AC Cooling Problem Solutions for River North Chicago Residents are solved with solutions from experience and resources. We have aquired both in the 43 years of business at Citywide Supply & Service. River North has many ac systems that experience the same problems year after year and we would like to present you with a list, if you will, of the most common ac air conditoner problems we find in the Chicago River North area. The biggest problem with ac units are freon leaks. I would estimate that 75% of the calls we recieve fron the River North area are attributed to low freon or refrigerant. It is critical to locate the leak and repair it so the system does not run in this conditon.

The next problem we find that is very common is burnt wires. Many times a non experience tech will diagnose an air conditoner compressor as being bad. When the fact is that the wires going to it which are hidden are burnt up. This is common on systems that have not been maintained in a long period of time. River North has many units that are not maintained as regularly as they should be which makes the units run harder and burns the wires.

Another big problem we find is that the air conditioner ac system is running but it not cooling or it is not cooling like it used to. This is common to low freon but is also common to dirty coils both inside the home and outside in the ac unit. In the river North area it is difficult for hvac contractors to clean the ac units properly with special acid solutions specially formulated for ac condensors. It is a must for units in the River North area in order to be cleaned properly.

Fix My AC Air Conditioner in the South Loop Chicago seems to be a common call for us in the last few years. I believe it is partly due to the age of the ac units in the South Loop. The area was developed many years ago and the age of the air conditioner condensers is reaching an age where problems start occuring. South Loop

Last year we had an ususual amount of compressor replacements in the South Loop. We found that due to the cool summer we had people were not having ther e ac unit cleaned and the thinking was that the units were not being used enough to justify the cost. We found that most of the units that needed compressor replacements were due to low freon gas. low freon is a compressors worst enemy. The low gas situation causes the compressor to overheat and valve damage occurs quickly. If you have not had your ac system checked do so to insure that at the bare minimum the refrigerant level is ok to operate the system without causing compressor damage.
For reasons we are not sure of we have found a high rate of ac leaks in the South Loop area. Wether it is do to construction factors or not it seems to be prevelant in the South Loop area. This should raise concern if your in the South Loop and you have not had your AC system checked in a few years. A compressor replacemnt can be expensive and a tune up starts at around $75.00.
